The main emphasis of «Yellow Wheelbarrow» is gardening lessons. We conduct them in important Lithuanian cities. But for those who prefer to learn from home, we offer a solution: virtual gardening lessons. Here I will provide all the details about them:

Virtual gardening lessons are a fantastic choice for standard classes for anyone who wants to create their dream space without leaving their home. You can study at a convenient time, review lectures as often as needed, finish the entire program at once, or learn each day for just 10 minutes. Check out the options available:

Contrasting or shaded combinations? Are you looking for colors to match the roof of the house or to match the fence? And to add autumn brown to your color palette? Cold or warm shades? And why don’t red flowers look good, and what to do with the pretentious purple one?
We answer all questions in these video lessons, where theory, many practical examples and beautiful plant combinations are presented by landscape architect Lina Puodžiūtė Ragauskienė.

The price of the course is 19 euros. These are video lessons that you can listen to whenever you want. They are supplemented with tests designed to test knowledge. You can find out more about the course here ( Click here).

«New perspectives: on-site design and care of perennials»

We are pleased to present Dr. Cassian Schmidt’s presentation on very low maintenance perennial strategies.

C. Schmidt is a world-renowned specialist whose work is also followed by Piet Oudolf himself and other world-renowned landscape architects. His scientific research on perennials and their strategies is radically changing the way we think about perennials, how they should be selected, planted and cared for. In some cases Cassian Schmidt’s approach is truly revolutionary, but in others it seems to speak elementary truths. The author’s report is full of careful calculations and tables, which are worth examining more carefully. Video recording of this ad allows you to do just that – you can stop and take a closer look at any time.

The report “New perspectives: planning and maintenance of perennial plants based on their habitat” was presented at the “Garden Style 2019” conference organized by “Yellow Wheelbarrow”. Now you can listen to this message in English (29 Eur, Click here) or dubbed into Lithuanian (39 Eur, Click here).

«My garden project»

My Garden Design is an online landscaping course for those who want to plan a transformation on their land. The courses are for you if you have a small plot and want to create a modern design on it. During the course, the landscape architect presents the project development process in simple terms and provides advice, while you create the garden of your dreams by completing tasks with plot design.

You can also follow the course online in three ways, choose the one most convenient for you:

  1. Video lessons (69 euros). These are video lessons in which landscape architect Lina Puodžiūtė Ragauskienė presents the entire process of creating the plot design and assigns tasks for independent work with the plot design. If you do them carefully, at the end of the course you will have a sketch of your new design.
  2. Video lessons and consultancy (89 euros). If you are not so confident in your abilities, we encourage you to purchase a course along with a consultation. You listen to video lessons at a convenient time and pace, while completing the tasks you create a sketch of your new project and we agree a time for a 30-minute personal online consultation, where you will discuss your sketch with a specialist. The video lessons are held by Lina Puodžiūtė Ragauskienė. Vaiva Marozienė, landscape designer, conducts personal remote consultation. During this time you will check your ideas, the specialist will advise you on what needs to be changed and you will discuss problem areas.
  3. Live broadcast of training (89 euros). If you doubt whether you can work independently, you can take courses where the teacher will be able to answer questions that arise even at the stage of creating a sketch. The live training takes place over 3 evenings, when a group of 5-8 participants gather, using the ZOOM platform. During the live broadcast everything is like in live courses: you see the teacher on the screen, you see the material taught, you can ask questions and even show your drawing to the group. As homework, tasks with a plot outline are assigned, which are then discussed during the live broadcast. Led by landscape architect Vaiva Vaitkutė Eidimtienė.

«Modern garden»

These video lessons provide basic growing knowledge: what is a seed, what is plant care, what type of soil is viable, how to improve that viability, why raised beds are needed, how to choose a greenhouse, why crop rotation is important, and what are the differences in growing conditions for tomatoes and cucumbers.

This basis is like a gardener’s alphabet, who knows which gardening will be most efficient. The teacher presents the entire course material in a scientific, systematic way and on the basis of accumulated experience.

The price is 39 euros. After completing the course, there will be a live question and answer session with the instructor, so don’t forget to note down any questions you may have. Horticulture expert Ingė Auželienė teaches. You can familiarize yourself with the course program and register here ( Click here).

«Naturalistic flower garden»

In the course «Naturalistic Flower Garden» you will learn the principles of modern plant design and create your own personal flower garden.

To create a charming flower garden that «works on its own,» you need to have a little practice with plants and some design knowledge. But no one is born paying! In the «Naturalistic flower garden» course we will tell you how to evaluate plants, we will show many examples to make the choice easier and we will teach you how to create combinations of plants for your flower garden.

The price of the course is 89 euros. Includes video tutorials with homework: After completing the homework, you will have a plant combination for your new flower garden. After the course, you will have access to a dedicated Facebook group where you can upload your combination for the teacher to comment on and like-minded people to contribute suggestions. Green designer Vaiva Marozienė teaches.

This course has not been published yet, we will start shortly.

«Plant composition laboratory»

These are practical design workshops in which we learn the classic rules of plant design and also experiment with them by creating groups of plants. The purpose of this workshop is to learn how to create a harmonious combination of trees, shrubs, perennial flowers and bluebell plants and to learn how to calculate how many plants will be needed to plant a given area.

It is not that easy to transfer this course online. However, we will try to move this seminar to the virtual space in the near future so that you can study at a time and place convenient for you.

Online landscaping courses continue even after

After completing any course program, the participant receives a certificate (in some courses it is necessary to pass a test) and, of course, an invitation to join a closed Facebook group where only those who have completed the Yellow Wheelbarrow courses gather. There we can continue to communicate, share experiences and ask questions that arise – so creating our own environment becomes even easier and more interesting.
