How do you collect seeds?
To collect seeds, you should start from the end June encore September Look for brown, mature seed heads of plantain and broadleaf plantain. They can be found along roadsides, on fences or in lawns. In general, these wild plants are more likely to be found on dry, stony soil. You can tell relatively quickly whether the seeds are perfectly ripe. If you can remove them easily by hand and no green seeds end up in the collection container, then they are ripe and ready to eat. But now you will notice that during harvesting, a relatively large amount of chaff ends up in the collection container.

This is a Plantain plantain and wide plantain exactly the same. The best way to separate the chaff is at home by shaking the seeds through a sieve. Then the tiny brown seeds fall through the sieve and the chaff remains. If there is still something left in the seeds, you can try blowing them out carefully until only seeds remain. These can then be eaten immediately or left to air dry for another day and then eaten later. When it comes to plantain, it’s not just the seeds that are delicious, the flowers in particular also taste delicious when steamed. Plantain Plantain Seeds – A local substitute for psyllium seeds
Plantain seeds of plantain are known as a local substitute for psyllium. They have proven useful for people with intestinal problems. Plantain seeds come from the same family as the popular Indian psyllium seeds. The small seeds are highly water-binding and swell. Basically these are fibers that stimulate intestinal activity. So why would you buy seeds from India when we have a domestic equivalent here? Of course, collecting a large amount requires some work, but you can collect seeds very quickly and easily and spend precious time in nature. You can put them in a jar in summer or autumn and carefully blow the peels off.

Collect now! This purple salt is obtained from chive flowers, but only for a short timeUsing plantain seeds
Plantain seeds are particularly water-binding. They swell as soon as they come into contact with the liquid. Just like psyllium seeds, they essentially gel. They are great fiber for the gut and can support gut health. You can, for example, add them to muesli or sprinkle them on soups. It is even better if you lightly grind the seeds with a coffee grinder. The valuable seeds also contain valuable oils. However, they are only absorbed in the intestine if they are broken down. Because they are so small, not all seeds are crushed during the chewing process, and some are swallowed whole. If you want to fully benefit from the seeds you have collected, you should crush them lightly. They taste great fresh in granola. But you can also dry them. A coffee grinder is ideal for browning the seeds
